CamAPS FX associated with better glucose management, study suggests
Two features of an innovative hybrid closed loop system can help people improve their glucose management at all times of the day, new research has revealed.
The boost and ease-off features in CamAPS FX allows users to engage safely with the closed-loop app to manage their glucose levels during periods of more-than-usual and less-than-usual insulin needs.
During the 12-month study, the team of researchers analysed the data of 7,464 people using the CamAPS FX hybrid closed-loop system.
They found that boost was used more frequently than ease-off, but for shorter duration per use. Mean starting glucose was above range for boost (229±51 mg/dL), and within range for ease-off (114±29 mg/dL), according to the study.
Time spent below 70 mg/dL was low during boost periods [median (IQR) 0.0 per cent (0.0, 0.5 per cent)], and lower than during no Boost periods [2.1 per cent (1.2, 3.4 per cent)], the research has reported.
Meanwhile, time spent above 180 mg/dL was lower during ease-off periods (15±14 per cent) compared to no ease-off periods (25±12 per cent), the scientists have said.
According to the results, there were no episodes of severe hypoglycaemia or DKA attributed to boost or ease-off use.
CamAPS FX is the world’s first automated insulin delivery app which has the ability to fine-tune insulin delivery.
