Tackling weight stigma in healthcare: Join our expert-led webinar

Registrations are now open for a free webinar exploring how bias may influence the care and well-being of people living with obesity.

Weight stigma is a widespread issue that significantly affects the quality of care for individuals living with obesity.

The first webinar in a series of educational webinars organised by the Obesity & Weight Management Alliance, "Weight stigma in healthcare – is weight stigma impacting on how we care for our patients?", will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Led by Dr Adrian Brown, NIHR Advanced Fellow and Senior Research Fellow/Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at University College London, this informative session is open to all registered healthcare professionals.

With over 18 years of expertise in weight management and bariatric dietetics, this session will explore how weight bias may affect approaches to patient care and how small changes in understanding can make a significant difference. The webinar will also include a live Q&A and sponsor symposium.

Event and campaigns manager Emily Mayhew said: “Addressing weight stigma is vital for improving patient outcomes and fostering trust in healthcare. Attendees will leave with practical strategies for using inclusive language, improving relationships, and building confidence in discussing weight with patients in a sensitive, effective manner.”
